In early March a brother from Kesii County, Kenya sent me an email directly from this website (and I thought no one reads it!), asking for help in acquiring bibles in his local language, Kesii. Excited and honored to be of service, I set to work discerning the situation. My ministerial association, National Association of Christian Ministers has members in Africa and Kenya, whom I was able to enlist in contacting my brother and new friend Pastor Jimmy Nyabuto.

After two fellow pastors, Thomas Mwaniki and Josphat Isoe were able to contact him (there are indeed less than honorable actors who exploit others through bible sales in locations exotic to Americans) in person and the needs of the flock he tends to, I was able to secure a publisher, The Bible Society of Kenya indeed in Nairobi, of the Ekegusii Bible and an American contact with Biblica Global Bible Ministry through whom I was able to purchase 20 bibles. The bibles were delivered along a dirt road 150 miles west of Nairobi near Kesii to Pastor Jimmy, and I was sent the beautiful confirmation in the picture above, and here:

Of course getting copies of the Word of God into the hands of those whom He has called is just the start of our kingdom work. Pastors Josphat and Thomas, as well as myself by email, are staying in touch to continue pastoral support and care. Of course Thomas and Josphat are servants and disciples whom the Lord has called and are in need too; Kenya is, as many know, a poor country by worldly standards and doesn’t have the social programs and aid that many developed countries have. Sufficient clothes, food, shelter, and medicine are not a given for these brothers and sisters, and neither is economic opportunity.

I hope that anyone who sees this simple message and is convicted to do so, would consider donating to our brothers in Kenya. There are so many truly needful individuals and organizations around the world, and it is overwhelming to discern where our charity should go. For me, having the close confirmation of where I can help with minimal middle men taking their cut of donations, I am blessed to serve my brothers and sisters in need directly.

If you do want to donate to Pastors Jimmy, Josphat, and Thomas too, please know all of your donation will go to them, excluding the transaction fee through Paypal or Xoom, from SOT SCM through Paypal/Xoom to their account, so please add a note to your donation (through SOT SCM website). I will send a copy of the confirmation email from Paypal/Xoom that your donation went to one of these pastors (they each receive donations in turn, or for immediate/emergent needs). Alternatively you can send money directly to them via Paypal or Xoom as well; please email me and I will give you their information. They use donations to provide food, water sanitation tabs, clothes, medications, bibles, and basic living costs (those that have homes) for shelter and worship to their flock and families. Small amounts are only what they’re asking for, $20, $50.
Yours in Him,
David Timothy
